3D Printing!

Last week we had a chance to 3D print one of our ideas! We used MakerBot and it was an amazing experience to, after hearing so much about it on the news recently, to see the 3D printing process of your very own design. Each piece takes a relatively long time to print because of the high resolution and the quantity of layers used that are very thin (about 100microns thick each).

Out of my five ideas I have chosen the Super Washing Machine for the International Space Station. Right now astronauts are wearing their clothes for two-three days and then throw them away. The traditional machine wouldn’t work in space because of the lack of gravity that is used while spinning the clothes.
